General Information

When using Mortice Locks with Door Knob Handles it is important to select a lock that will position the Knob as far away from the door edge as possible (to avoid rapping your knuckles on the door frame). For this purpose we recommend Locks with a minimum Backset measurement of 57mm (this is the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the square spindle hole or Follower). Where larger Knobs are being used, or when the frame stop measurement is greater than the standard 12mm, Locks with a longer backset should be considered - if in doubt please contact us for professional advice.

Deadlocks - the Backset measurements given for Mortice Dead Locks is the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the keyhole.

Rebated Doors - it is common in the UK for double doors to have rebated meeting stiles which are normally 12mm in depth. The majority of our Mortice Latches are available with suitable Rebate Sets as an optional extra.

All prices are per Single complete with Striking Plate and all fixing screws
