General InformationOur Rustic Hand Forged T Hinges (Tee or Strap Hinges) are designed so that both the horizontal and vertical sections are fully visible on the opening face of the door and frame when the door is in the closed position.
T Hinges are traditionally fitted to the plain face of ledged doors in line with the horizontal ledges on the opposite side.
The following "rule of thumb" can be used to select the correct size T Hinge for your door:
For light to medium weight doors (Pine etc) select a hinge size from one third to half the width of the door.
For heavier doors (Oak etc) select a hinge from half to two thirds the width of the door.
Other factors may also need to be taken into account. Tall doors or doors that may be susceptible to warping may benefit from a third hinge fitted centrally.
T Hinges are traditionaly measured from end to end when fully open. Our T Hinges are hand made and as such all measurements given are approximate only.
