Before the industrial revolution in Britain in the 18th Century ironmongery was made by hand, often by the local Blacksmith.
Our "Works in Iron" range of traditional Rustic Hand Forged door and window fittings was developed in response to demand from customers faced with the problem of sourcing original ironmongery for the restoration and renovation of period properties. We have, in conjunction with our British suppliers, designed this range after extensive research of historic buildings.
The majority of our "Works in Iron" products are drawn and Hand Forged in the traditional fashion with the designs being faithful reproductions of 17th and 18th Century hardware patterns. These classic designs continue to be in great demand due to their timeless appearance and functionality. Also included in the range are some traditional Cast Malleable Iron products to give an even wider choice of design and function. |

 | Black Antique Iron Period Ironmongery
Black Antique Ironmongery has been a popular choice since the early 19th Century being used on traditional cottages and country dwelings. The most prolific use, however, was during the late 1920s and 1930s when it was used extensively on the Wimbledon Transitional (or Jacobethan) style of suburban housing (a spin off from the earlier Arts and Crafts movement).
We offer a vast range of high quality Black Antique Ironmongery products that have been manufactured by the same British foundry for over 150 years. These products are made from 100% whiteheart cast malleable iron and should not be confused with the poor quality imitations available from other suppliers.

This range of British made general ironmongery fittings has been a very popular choice since the late 19th Century being used primarily on Victorian town houses, municiple buildings and schools etc. These products are an ideal choice for Rectory style properties or, indeed, anywhere that requires a functional, less rustic look.
